Holy buckets.

That's quite the piece of engineering.

Part of it is the frame of the Land Rover bike rack. But it seems to be missing the bars that the bikes are put on. The rest of it... I haven't the foggiest idea.

Here's what the bike rack part is supposed to look like:

It looks as if you could put some snowboards or skis or something on yours, but I've never seen a rack for that purpose before...

i havent seen any other racks like it bit i'm kinda leaning toward it being for carrying skis since i live about 50 miles from mount hood......but it sure looks like a lot of overkill for lightweight skis!?

My guess would be it is a combo bike rack/ski rack, depending on which rear mount you have installed. With that mount is is for skis, take the top/rear portion off, and put on one like the LR bike rack shown in above post, and now you have the bike rack. That may be why it looks over engineered, so as to be able to use it with either attachment to make it function for either one you choose. Still I can't quite tell how or if that ski attachment assembly is bolted or welded to the rest, so not sure. That is massive! Is their a manufacturer's name on it?

No matter what it is, it's a great bit of kit! My guess would be the same as Rover_Hokie, looks like it could fit Ski Equipment.
