Default Location of idle control valve

Hey fellow forum enthusiasts! Problem: I'm trying to solve the problem of high /excessive rpm on my wife's 1997 RR 4.6 HSE. Previously it was suggested that I check for vaccum leaks and also clean out the throttle body and checkthe idle control valve. Well I'm going to change both breather hoses that connect to the valve covers (as one has a hole in it and the other is clearly deteriorating due to gunk). In checking the idle control valve...I'm specifically checking for what...build up?

Default RE: Location of idle control valve

There is no idle control valve on your car, you can adjust the throttle cable on the quadrant on the air intake bseide the cruise control cable. It is more likely to be a vacuum leak, changing those hosesmight fix it.Is the check engine light on?
