Hi all,
I lost one of the keys for my 2020 Evoque. Today I contacted someone on FB marketplace that sells and programs FOBs, so he came and spent 2 hours programming the new FOB. after 2 hours, the buttons on the FOB worked to open the doors etc, but the keyless entry and ignition didn't work, so it was essentially useless if I have to hold the key to the steering column to start the car. Needless to say I didn't pay him or otherwise complete the transaction.
His explanation was that since it's not an original Landrover FOB, the keyless function won't work. In your experience, is it a case where he did not know how to program it, or am I really stuck going to Landrover to purchase my replacement FOB?

Basically you got scammed and in a couple weeks or so your Rover will be stolen.
