Happy Mother’s Day!

I’m trying to fix my mother’s 2011 LR4 HSE. A few days ago she tried to close the door and it just bounces back open. The latch won’t engage at all. Locking and unlocking the door do nothing with the door open or even while holding the door closed.

The latch mechanism moves freely in and out (see VIDEO) but whatever is supposed to hold that mechanism closed doesn’t seem to exist on the driver’s door (USA/L).

1. Does anyone have a trick for this that’s better or easier than removing the door latch—after watching MANY videos explaining how to do this I’m not looking forward to this project.
2. If replacing the mechanism is the only way, could someone post the part number(s) needed to fix the problem?
3. Also, any preferred sellers of this type of part?

Your truck doesn't have passive entry so I believe this is the correct part. This website has an option to put your VIN in and make sure you get the correct part.

You will need to replace the entire door latch assembly.
