what size is the lug nut 1-1/4 ? or29mm, 1998 LR discovery.

hi evan, it seems somone used the wrong size socket ,so... just go up to autozone and get a 29mm socket and it takes them off real easy...oh and have fun trying to get the rotors off .

best of luck THE MAN

Have I missed something? Nuts on what lugs? Wheel nuts? Wheel bearings?

A bit more info, please, evan.

Yes the nut that holds the wheel on. What's the deal with the stainless cover on the nuts does it come off. or do you put socket over it? I remember GM did that back in the 80's .

Its 27mm.

The covers stay, get a good 27mm it will hold the sides of the lug nut not the corners that way the lug nut covers
will not get messed up.
