Default New Land Rover purchase help.

Hey all I am new here and I am looking at buying a used Range Rover or Discovery for $1500 or less. I wanted to get your opinon on things that I should check for. I am new to the Range Rover thing but have always wanted one and now am looking forward to purchasing one. I am mechanically inclined and can do alot of my own work. Any help would be great!!

Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the site! I'd be a little curious why you want one for such a low price, also what year you're expecting to get. If you're trying for a 'needs work' truck, something in the 98-up range, you'll probably end up spending wayyyy more than that just to get it up to spec. Those vehicles will probably be the ones that were too much trouble to fix, and were dumped at low cost.

On the other hand, if you get a classic...and that's why the cost is low, well you can find good ones, but remember there are a wholleee lot of systems to fail at that age.

Basically, what do you want to do with the truck?

I wanted one for $1500 or less because that is all I have to work with. I have found 94,95,96 model discovery's for that price but I have not went to look at them. As Far as the Range Rover I have seen 80's up for that price too. I am not looking a perfect car by any means. Just something to have fun with and eventually fix all the problems. I will probably have to go south to avoid the rust but I just wanted to see if there are more things that are known problems to look for. I have seen alot for example with leaking power steering, oil leaks non working sun roofs, etc.
