New Member Hit a Lake on the Free way
Hi
I am a new member but a old Land Rover guy . Happy to be here .I have a 2000 Disco ll w/ACE 60,000 miles.
A couple weeks ago I was doing 70 in the rain on I94 going from Detroit to Ann Arbor MI . Without warning I ran into a huge road covering foot or so deep wall of water it picked up the whole truck and took me for a little ride. I will not soon forget . That was a lottt of water ....... Any way no damage no water in oil . But changed the oil and filter anyway. so a week later i notice this water sloshing sound every time I hit the gas. So out of gear if you tap the gas you here the water sloshing with the spinning of the engine. after 1000-1500 RPM no more noise. Sounds like it is behind the lower dash on the pass side??
Any Ideas I am lost on this. HELP.
Thanks

That's your heater core location! But it's probably fine, you've just got lower coolant and it's sloshing/gurgling or someother form of movement all around in the system.
Check your coolant level, and also be sure to get any air bubble out. I think I saw a thread a couple of days ago mentioning the method for bleeding air from the Disco sytem...I'll see if I can find that for ya.
Glad to hear your ok though! That sounds pretty hairy..

Disco Mike What up . I just went out and checked the level in the expan tank and it was a little low so drove a mile to the parts store purchased correct 50 50 fluid and topped off the tank it took maybe 5 ounces. No I do not know how to bleed the system.
So now that I think about it the anti freeze is a light orange color the same color as the funky rainx winshield washer fluid I use for the winter. And I have noticed half dollar size drips on tth garage floor but untill a moment ago I thiught is was washer fluid I wonder if I have a very small heater core leak???

Mike
Well your heater core generally leaks inside the cabin, since the core is on the cabin side of the firewall. Check your passenger side floor board and carpet for wetness/signs of anti-freeze to find a heater core leak.
This is from another thread on proper procedure for refilling coolant
I'll keep looking, or maybe Mike will be quicker, as to the locations of the bleed screws.

Park with the nose of the trk as high as you can, turn thedefroster to "HOT", remove the radiator cap and loosen any bleed srews. Start the trk and let it idle making sure that thedefroster is blowing hot air, make sure that the thermostat opens, after the t-stat opens it should gurge as the air excapes, tighten the bleed screws starting with the ones in the back first and then last the radiator cap. This make take a half hour.
Park it level and let it sit overnight and then top off the overflow tank in the morning when the engine is cold.
