Default oil burn question

A little history...bought a 2000 disco 2, had overheated, replaced head gaskets. After the repair, runs great but when it heats up to normal operating temp it smells like oil buring and smokes when accelerating. None from valve covers. I know there is a hose which goes from the valve cover to the intake at the butterfly...can that suck oil? I ask because when I disassembled the engine and turned the upper plenum over to clean the surface are for refitting a decent amount of oil ran out of the butterfly. I'm familiar with older pcv type systems, but this hose is clamped on the intake and on the valve cover. Any suggestions from anyone?

what did you reuse, all the gaskets or just a few. Plus the pcv separator gets trapped but that cause issues like you are saying. but a broken intake gasket will though.

Yes there is an oil separator in the passenger side v/c that can plug up and can be removed. As already mentioned, the gasket between the 2 manifolds can leak like a siv if not replaced.

All gaskets were brand new, none reused. I"ll be the first to admit that my expertise is limited to shade trees and carburated 350s with headers...am probably out of my league as I tried to be very careful and follow torque specs from Rave. Eric @ Pikes Peak Land Rover is going to check it out for me and see what's going on. Thanks for your replies, will post what he finds.
