Unhappy oops.... was pulling front drive shaft ........

and i think i did something really dumb had disconnected the shaft from the front differential.
couldn't get at the last bolt on the transmission side and decided to just put it in gear and pull forward in inch or 2..... a loud thumping and now no forward motion or reverse and makes a ratcheting sound when placed in park .....
how bad???? new trans??? thanx in advance for any responses. 2000 disco II

wow, stupid. but if it thumped the trans take the pan down and pray to god it only destroyed a few things.

if not its a new transmission.

Default update to oops. thanks everyone

So turns out nothing is busted. i got a little confused. had read that if you lock the cdl you could drive on the rear shaft only, confused the transfer case with the cdl anyways long story short it only turned a few rotations and did no damage. found new greasable u joints at pepboys for $12.99 neapco 1-0005 the dealer wanted $118.

Make sure the u-joints say on them Made in USA. There are some china ones that use the same Neapco PN.
Don't forget your centering kit also.

Also, next time just put the t-case and tranny in the "N" position and get back under there and you can rotate the drive shaft by hand to get to whichever bolt you still need to get to...

Sorry did not have my glasses on in the previous post and mistakenly posted pittsburg. and the grease nipple is tapped into the top of one of the bearing caps.
