Default P38/4.6 Heater Core (matrix)

Discovered the heater core/matrix leaking pretty bad on the passenger side of my '97 RR 4.6 HSE. Has anyone ever bypassed the heater core altogether by reouting the respective hoses? I know this interim remedy is quite common on classics (yes, I'm guilty of that on my classic). If so, what hose did you use (i.e.: universal from the local auto parts store)?

Could be just the heater core o-rings ( very, very common on p38's ). Does not require a full dash removal to replace them, but glove box, radio, heater controler will have to be remove for access to screw and o-rings.
