Default PLZ Help My Dying Disco!

So I just purchased a 99 Disco II and it had the service engine soon light on. I brought it in the mechanic said the codes were coming up to do with something with the fuel/air mixture, I don't know the exact code numbers. He replace the Air intake hose cleared the code and after a few minutes the sensors set off the service light. It has not had any problems driving no weird sounds just a bit rough when idling, but not stalling or anything. Yesterday on a longer journey on the way back i noticed it started to feel some sputtering when pressing the gas. It felt like the engine was being choked of fuel or air. Then the light when from a steady on to a blinking and the sputtering was about the same the rest of the way home. I am thinking of bringing it into the Landy dealer rather than back to my mechanic because I don't think he has seen his share of LR's to know exactly what is wrong. I have read the other posts on sputtering and realize it can be anything from an O2 Sensor, to wiring, spark plugs or worse case sticky valves. I have new spark plugs so I know its not that. I took this video and tried to put the camera towards where the sound was coming from. If anyone has any suggestions as to what this might be I would appreciate it. the last few seconds it can be heard clearly. please help my dying disco.

thanx.

My 2004 is doing the exact same thing. It sounds like a bad lifter when under throttle and weak power (like skipping) especially when the check engine light is blinking.

Default Update

So i brought into the local landy dealer because i was scared if i continued to drive it i would just do more damage. apparently the thing is a ticking time bomb. the guy who owned it did no maitnenance on it. The mechanic called me and gave me a list of error codes. He came to the conclusion it needed a mass flow sensor, one of the coil packs was bad, the fuel injection system needed to be cleaned because there was excess carbon backed up, there was a misfire in 2 & 5? I think they are connected, most likely the misfire because the wrong plugs and wires were installed and the O2 sensor was not getting hot enough because there was a leak in the exhaust before the catalytic converter. On top of that I need a new serpentine belt, the valves are leaking some oil (telling me something i didnt know about Landys) and a bigger concern is coolant leaking from the gaskets. Hopefully will hear more later today or tomorrow. All in all I told him to go ahead with everything besdies the gaskets, serpentine belt, and valves.... The cost will be $1999 for the repairs. They wanted $5100 for the gaskets, valves, belt and the other repairs. I only paid $3500 for the truck. I would rather spend that $5100 on a new truck or even a salvaged engine I could get for less than $2000....
