Rover gang -

I have scoured this forum and many others. Long story short...front DS has wasted u-joints. Removed DS just now. Do I have to engage the CDL on this 02' Disco2? If so, how...please?

What happens if DS is removed and CDL is not engaged? Will anything break additionally?

If my memory serves right, there is a "nipple" on top of the TC or transmission that you can engage the CDL, do a seach for it and see if some of the other threads can help, sorry can't be more help just remebering what I have read in the past.

 

I searched all over and this is an 02', so I am out of luck...no nipple!!

Can it be driven without the front shaft for now? What do I need to do?

 

It can be drivin for a SHORT distance. If you drive it to long you will break the rear diff. Too much stress for it.
I think that late model '02's do not have the CDL therefore no nipple ontop of the t-case.

EDIT-Sorry, what you need to do is get the front DS rebuilt.

02Disco02, sorry I was unsure which year just didn't have it all, yes you will have to get the DS rebuilt.

 

it should be there... and you wont be able to move, the front output shaft will just spin. put your hand ablove where you took the driveshaft off of, theres a threaded shaft there, it goes into the tbox verticly, you need to turn this

I doubt its there on an 02 truck tbh

 

issed this post, just wanted to say you don't have one of the LT230 t/cases that would have the CDL, Sorry.
