Possibly buying a 96 p38, it has issues though
I have been looking at buying a 96 range rover p38 4.0 with 177,000 on it the only problem is that the person selling it claims it has a cracked head gasket. he says he has oil and coolant mixing. he also says it seems as if the last person who owned the vehicle possibly replaced the head gaskets but did not complete the job to spec. his evidence is that there were several things that he needed to tighten up he did not specify the things. My question is. is this definetly a head gasket problem or could it be a cracked block or a slipped liner? is this truck worth looking into buying i can get it for a decent deal and i know i can replace the head gaskets on this 96 4.0 as i recently replaced my head gaskets on my 96 disco with 150,000. I am just weary of gettin rid of my disco to get a p38 with what seems to be a head gasket problem only to turn into a money trap. He claims he has not overheated the truck and sees no evidence of such. Any advice is very much appriciated
