Default Power Streeing Gearbox. Best way to...

I'm going to have to replace the power streeing gearbox on my 99 Land Rover D1. Dealer wants $1600 to do it. Has anyone had to do this and has any good tips or maybe found a good video on youtube or picture by picure on the best way to do it? Thanks Hamy

make sure you don't let the steering wheel turn while its off or else the airbag light will be on and the clockspring will be damaged.

you need some pullers to do the job. Is it leaking badly or just a little. if its bad and its not the hoses then keep it topped off. if its leaking everytime you use it then its time to replace. Not easy but not fun. Just make sure the steering wheel has correct amounts of turns lock to lock.

Common hand tools plus two pullers will do it.

Also a ball joint (tie-rod) separator.
This one might work:
OTC 6297 Ball Joint - Suspension

I use one of these and it's perfect:
