Default Problems with Voltage Fluctuations on Prodigy Brake controller

This is a 2004 S2 TD5 Disco. I have a Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller it take brake sensing from a cable run to the rear drivers side stop lamp wiring just before the bulb, this was done due to concerns over using the brake pedal switch . The prodigy worked fine for 3 weeks, then started to show voltage fluctuations on its screen as volatge being applied to the trailer brakes , only happens with the trailer plugged in happens with outher electric brake equipped trailers and happens without the pedal depressed.

Prior to this happenein did have a coolant problem which caused ECU to sense an overheat fixed problem. Crusie control has also stopped working may or may not be related as it did stop workin g for a few days a month ago them miracuously started working again...

Any help ideas appreciated.
