Propshaft Rebuild
Well, the guy who wrote the guide at www.discovery2.co.uk / Workshop :- front and Rear propshaft calls this a dust seal / cap. Anyone know where I can get a replacement?
Thanks.
Thanks.
A lot can change in a couple of years, but are the Neapco 1-0005 u-joints now double the price? I found them a couple of places for $25 or $26. Nothing anywhere for near $13.
I went to the Advance Auto near me; no luck. They sent me to Rocky Mountain Driveline in Denver where they had one in stock. RMD also removed the centering ball for $5. Well worth it.
I went to the Advance Auto Parts store this afternoon. I found both Neapco 1-0005 u-joints for the factory prop shaft and 1-0154 for the Tom Woods prop shaft for $13. I don't know why the 1-0005 was priced at $26 on the internet. The 1-0154 comes with the low profile grease zerk you show in your original post. I haven't looked at the 1-0005 yet since they are being sent over from another store.
Reposted. I hope I got the image links right after the forum owners changed them all to local references.
I highly recommend the ad-block plus plug-in so you don't see the ads the site places on my photos.

I wanted to put a warning out there to double check the cap sizes of Advance Auto Parts Neapco U-Joints #1-0005. I bought 5 and 1 had the zerk/grease fitting in the cross and all 4 wrong cap sizes, and another 2 had the zerk/grease fitting on the end cap and that cap was the right size and the 3 other caps were too large. So make sure you bring a dial caliper with you to Advance if you choose to buy from them.
Now I have to wait another 3 days as Advance only has 1 available in the whole US (according to them and their website now doesn't list it even though I purchased them off the website). I had to resort to buying some Moog 344AG U-Joints off Amazon for $20 each with free 2 day shipping (this was cheaper than buying off RockAuto with their $10 UPS shipping). I could have gotten them from NAPA or CarQuest, but they were $25-$29 each plus tax.
Oh, and when I bought them off Advance's website (with a 15% coupon off $75 purchase), they came out to $10.44/ea before tax. The centering kit was $26.77 before tax.
