Purolator L40316 D1 Readings
Installed a MANN W950/4 - Purolator L40316, D1 178K, 5W40 Syn Rotella. Oil gauge says:
44 PSI cold (45 F) idle or 2500 rpm
42 PSI warm (175 F) - 2500 rpm
24 PSI warm (175 F) - 700 rpm
No I don't have readings from old filter, etc.
What I figure from this is:
The D1 oil PSI spec (30 - 40) is less than the D2 (50), maybe a different spring in the front cover relief, etc. I'm certainly not getting the 60+ that RoverMasterTech got on the D2.
My oil pump and bearings are old and tired, can't make over 45 PSI, maybe it is time to pull the pan off and get busy. But I'm still within spec, so it may wait until warmer weather.
The idle PSI is a little higher than some, but I attribute that to the low flow restriction of the gonzo filter.
My gauge adapters are leaking some, so that would drop the high pressure side just a little. And my oil cooler lines are needing to be swapped out, leaking, more to do this weekend.
