Default Re: Best year?

Im sure you guys have talked about this...:
Hello,
Im Cattiva73,...Im new to the forum:

FYI: I just love Discovery ...I dont have one yet but
Im planning to buy one soon maybe with a lift on it and bigger tires...nothing major just cool looking.

The reason I signed up in advance is because, before I start my search I would like to know:
- What is the best year for the Discovery models?
-Diesel or Gas?
-What and where should I look for before I buy and what is a fear price for a good Disco?
ps: I like 2003 and 2004 years but
Im open to suggestions from experts like you guys.

Im a girl and not very mechanical oriented..I'd like to narrow it down to the best good reliable year model.

So...Show me what you got and let the suggestions begin

Diesel hard to come by in USA.

Repairs more complex on D2, as they have more advanced systems. That makes for more costly repairs if you don't DIY.

Which ever one you find, spend about two hours of shop time with a mechanic you trust to inspect it before purchase. Have about $1000 available for catch up repairs. More if it needs head gaskets.

Whole shop and owner manuals are free download below, called the RAVE.

In our tech area of the forum there is a comparison of D1 and D2, plus what to look for.

As a noobie (male or female), without the wicked ways learned on other vehicles, you would have an advantage of doing your own mechanical work in that you would be more careful and detail oriented, and small hands help. If you'll be paying someone to care for a Rover hope you have a money tree. Dealerships can be hundreds of dollars for something you can learn to do yourself.
