Default Rear driver side tail lamp assy

Okay, so I wanted to tackle the blown bulb in the rear tail light assembly, only to find out that the reason it's blown is due to a short and the plastic is melted.

The real problem however, became apparent when I started searching for a new assembly. Searching for the part based on year, make and model, turned up unexpected results. None of the parts look anything like the one in my hand! So I tweaked the search a bit, and come to the exact part I have on my truck, and it says that it's for the Range Rover.

???

Should I buy it and hope for the best, or ditch both assemblies to buy the part specifically fitted for my Rover?

IMHO another route is contact a dismantler, like Paul Grant - unless you have your own boneyard nearby.

Thanks to Paul, I have been enlightened that what I thought I bought was a Series 2. I actually have the Series I Discovery, hence the reason why I was having such a hard time finding the right parts...

To help avoid all confusion in the future you have a '98 DI, this will end all doubt when ordering parts and yes the trucks are exactly the same.
In fact your '99DI is left over '98 stock so it is actually a '98.

Hi afs244, thanks for the offer, but this post is from 6 months ago... I've already replaced the assembly.

And Spike, this is the first time I've seen your post! Yeah that's what I now tell auto stores is that it's a '98.. I most certainly have had better luck with finding parts that way. Thank you so much
