Default Replace wiper blade motor??

Our driver side wiper arm got caught on the rubber seal on the lower side of the windshield and stripped out the wiper arm. I moved the passenger side wiper blade arm to the driver side until I could order another arm. Now my wife tells me that the wiper arm is not working. I think the spindle is stript out on the "part that turns" not the wiper blade arm. Does this mean that I have to buy a new motor?

What year and model?
Have you checked to make sure the wiper arm nut is tight?
