Reprogramming of key fob at home?
I left my 2000 P38 key fob in a drawer for too long and the batteries died. Now, with fresh batteries installed, how do I make it work again? The little L.E.D. light works, and the key starts the car fine, but the door locks won't listen to this one, but they're fine with the other fob. The instructions say to put the key into the ignition, and work the door locks (do I use the **** at the door, or the buttons on the fob that is in the ignition?). Obviously, if it can re-learn without a costly call at my friendly LR dealer, that's the way I'd like to do it.
To program P38 remotes , simply insert the key in the drivers door lock and turn the key to lock or unlock while holding the remote button, you will notice the remote LED will start flashing rapidly when holding the button, thats the program mode. possibly the only thing they did for these cars that was simple ! It stil starts the car because they didnt have security Imobilization yet.
