Truck sounds like a harley, pops a little bit once and awhile. Traveled 1500 miles and over mountains. I was low on oil and corrected it, don't know if that was cause. Truck struggles when going up hills. I am about 200 miles from Eliot Maine where there is a recommended shop from this forum. Any ideas as to what is wrong. Don't want to drive if not good for it.

 

Dumping exhaust. Look around manifolds to find the massive leak .....loose / cracked manifold or y pipe or head gasket

 

Took it to local place 1 1/2 miles down road. He says manifold fine but the entire exhaust fell off!

 

Well then! I think you have found the leak. Curious as to how much "the entire exhaust" is though...

 

I may have heard him wrong. I was about 8 inches of pipe rotted away at the bottom of the Y shape. He manufactured a piece to fit and welded it on. The truck has been fine since. He worked on it for an hour and charged me $68. Asked him if I needed new back brakes as the yahoo that couldn't take off my tires correctly had informed me. He said I have 70% left. This man is a joy. I recommend S & S Enterprises near Winter Port maine to all. I have sent business his way already.
