Sport mode troubles (Disco II)
my 2004 disco 2 will not seem to engage sport mode. when i press the mode button, the green "S" light come on normally, but when driven the shift patterns are EXACTLY the same as when in normal mode. i am a fairy new disco owner (owned mine for six months), so i am not sure if it IS working and i just cant tell the difference. an example of my frustration: today i was in sport mode driving normally on the road, i started to climb a small hill and had to push the pedal down about 85% before it dropped a gear. could this be a fault with the transmission or battery/alternator, or is the sport mode just extremely subltle?
thanks.
thanks.

"Sport" mode on a 4500lb brick is a oxymoron.
Doing a complete tune up will help your "performance" with the truck as well as making sure you are using the correct grade of fuel.
If/when the battery voltage gets to low the "M" (manual) and "S" (sport) lights will both come on on the dash and the transmission will go into limp mode, which is 3rd gear only.
