Steamy Vents
Hi,
Heater core replacement is roughly $400 to $600 labor depending on where you go. I couldn't tell you the cost of the part it's self.
Let me ask you, Does the steam smell sweet/bitter? Is it coolant or water your seeing? The reason I ask is because the a/c drains will block up with dust and cause your evaporator to drip water inside the car and vents. you'll notice the floor boards might be damp on either side of the heater unit. At first start up, the hvac will fog everything up until the a/c or heater is able to dry the air a little bit. Check your a/c drain tubes! Located under the car about where the heater is located on either side of the transmission. take a long screw driver or coat hanger and poke inside the drains. Be carefull of the cats as they will be hot if the car has been run. Also, water WILL run down your sleeve if you do unplug a blocked drain.
