Default Is synthetic oil required?

Is it required that I use synthetic in LR2 (I6) or can I use regular oil and change it more often?

Change it more often anyway, Rover considers stop and go traffic and short trips "arduous service". Don't know on the LR2, on the Freelander they speced full synthetic, and only a few brands. What does your owner manual suggest? Are you in warranty?

Manual calls for Castrol synthetic. I thought that maybe the reason why was the extended service interval. My reasoning was that if I change it more often, would using the synthetic make any difference.
