Tennessee- Wife's Discovery hates me!!
From screaming " HE'S TRYING TO STEAL ME" in a crowded parking garage, to locking me out in the middle of nowhere or just recentlly shutting off driving down the highway. I really believe this thing has it in for me. BUT my wife loves it. She says " Honey you are a lot more trouble and I love you! ". I can't argue with that BUT!!! Last night I take it into town and it just shuts down driving down the highway. I coast into a parking lot. Turn the key and nothing but a rapid ticking from under the dash on the passenger side I deduce. While looking at the manual and the fuse panel I hold in the door switch button and the ticking skipped a beat. AHA! A short maybe. I work the switch a couple of times while trying to start it and the thing turns over but does not start. I smell gas so fuel but no fire. About that time the door switch comes apart and I call for a ride home so here I am reaching out to some sympathetic
soul on this forum for help. PLEASE!!!!

The very first check in these trucks is your grounds. The electrical systems tend to be very sensitive to poor grounding and that can reek havoc and show up in all sorts of ways.
I'd speculate (guess) first that your alarm system doesn't like something and is shutting down spark based on the door switch symptom.
The next thing I'd check is the crank position sensor which is located on the engine side of the bell housing on the driver's side. Wires to this critical sensor are often burnt by the exhaust. The sensor itself is covered by an metal shield.
It is best to put the year/model/mileage of your truck in your signature and post in the appropriate section of the forum. You'll get more eyes on your post and more help. Finally, all the workshop manuals can be found in the link in my signature. Download them as you like.
