Default Thoughts on Running a 15" wheel

My search for better wheels had turned up a set of 5 15 " steel wheels. Reasonable price. I know they will clear my calipers.

I was thinking of running either a 33x10.5 or 31x10.5. Advantages? Disadvantages?

What's your definition of "better"?
15" Steel Wheels
-Easily dented, yet also easily pounded out.
-Aren't very good at holding a bead.
-Heavy
-Cheap, yet can also cost more than a stock alloy.
-Decent tire selection, cheaper tires, yet often tires are C load rating.

16" Alloy Wheels
-Not easily dented. But if they are they can't be pounded out.
-Are VERY good at holding a bead.
-Cheap. Rover alloys can be had for less than $50 each.
-Good tire selection in D and E load ratings, but usually more expensive as well.

I've kepy my stock Deep Dish alloys and have been very happy with them. Ran 315/75/16's down to 15psi and had zero issues keeping a bead.

Better meaning I have the chrome bowling ball style wheels. That I hate. They have to go no matter what. Junk yard here wants about 50 each but no complete sets

Eeeeek......I have a slightly different reply.......

Aftermarket aluminum alloys, no matter the size are only worth their weight if 'forged'......not cast.....I'm assuming Rover rims are forged, but never looked into it. All those imported 'street' rims are cast, I've seen chunks break off during trail/rock use.

A 15 you can air down 'a lot' without concern, a Swamper Q78 at 9lbs is crazy traction with rock gripping fun.....and still looks like it has 32lbs.

Down side.......15" tires are being phased out.....your selection is becoming more & more limited.

I'm sort of amazed the 31 and 33 KO2's are basically the same price.
