2002 Disco II, 180,000 miles
Transmission will not engage in drive or any other gear but 1st, and Reverse. I can shift the vehicle manually through all gears. It initially threw a code ( cant recall what it was ) indicating that the transcripts speed sensor was at fault. I did a transmission filter and fluid change, and cleaned the sensor......no change. I ordered the STC4444 from Land Rover, and have continued to drive the vehicle ( shifting manually through the gears) while waiting for the sensor to arrive. I put the new sensor in today.....no change. The M&S lights came on for a brief time, and the transmission engaged in Drive for about a 100 yard run. I stopped at a stop sign, and it would not engage. The battery is new, and the alternator was changed recently. I did notice, that when I was coasting down a slight downhill slope in my neighborhood w the vehicle in drive, that it would engage at about 5mph. I'm frustrated, could really use some of your expertise.
Any ideas?
