Transfer case to adapter plate/tansmission bolts
Which of the five bolts that hold the transfer case on are the longer ones? I have a 2001 Disco II. I put a locking transfer case from a 2004 on my 2001 but didn't notice that some bolts were longer than the others. I read where on the defender 110 that the two forward facing ones were the shorter.
first off put the vehicle in neutral then install the two in the front I believe, its been awhile, but the first time I installed the bolts I checked to make sure the front and the rear would turn completely around and it wouldn't then its in the wrong spot. start the truck and drive it and your completely ****ed if you didnt check first.
the only one that will matter if is long or not is the one that goes from the front to back right on top of where you would install the two orings for the idler. since thats the one that goes through the case and if its long will hit the gear.
Thanks, guys! I put the two shorter ones in front and when in neutral, both front and rear turned fine. Everything is torqued. I have both drive shafts on and after I install the new exhaust system I hope to be ready to go. A balmy 116 degrees in the shade today here in Tulsa.
