Default Transfer Case Help

Ok I will try to make this short.. I have a 2001 Disco 2 with a whole lot of play in my transfer case. It clunks and jerks when I acel or decel. Seems to me the chain is wore out? Anyway a place in Minnisota sold me a case with 120 day warrenty for $125. Its out of a 99 Disco 2. I think that I got a good deal. Now for the question. I am a good mechanic but have never swaped a LR tranfer case before. Do I need any gaskets? Whats the best fluid to use and how much will it take? And last is there any special tools or tricks I need to know about? Thanks to anyone who can take a min to help me out. Land Rovers Rule Ben Stevens

Did you have the vehicle looked at first? Its very likely that the front driveshaft is loose and not the transfer case. And yes a used one will need many new seals. Atlantic british has a new seal kit but honestly it should be swapped by a competent mechanic.

Default Lets try this again

Thanks for trying but you didnt do well awnsering my questions. I have obviously jacked up the truck and checked the drive lines before ordering the tranfer case. Between the input and output there is alot of play and a terible clunking noise. I am assuming that there is only one seal where the tranfer case mated to the tranny. Since they are independent from eachother it probably isnt much. So anyway what fluid and how much. The case I bought is complete but dosnt include the external shift motor. I cant imagine thats a big deal. I can just use the one from mine. Any input would be appreciated

4.8Pt fill from dry 75W90 Gear lube. There is no chain in these transfer cases, nor an external shift motor by the way.

Default Transfer case

Thanks for the help. So can you tell me if you have heard of this problem before? I found a video on youtube with the exact same thing. What causes all that play? And is there a gasket where the 2 cases meet? Thanks Ben Stevens
