If it is anything like my 99 Range Rover 4.6 HSE, it is doable but a litle tricky.
This is what I did:
Place wheel chocks on wheels and engage E-brake
Jack up front end and place on jack stands.
Remove drain plug from bottom of Trans pan and drain into approp. container
Clear sludge off of plug, replace washer, and re-install.
Remove 6 10mm trans pan bolts & pan gasket, cleaning the magnet (if present) that is located at the bottom of the pan.
You might have toback out the center bolt on cross member.
Remove bolt holding suck tube with a Torx bit (mine was a T27)
Remove other 2 screws holding filter
Replace filter
Replace gasket, insuring and even fit all the way around. This can be a little tricky.
Replace 6 10mm screws.
Remove the fill plug at the top of the pan. Mine was located at the top right.
I had to rig a long plastic tube to the end of a trans funnel and bungie-cord it to the front grill.
I ran the tube over the tire down through the frame and to the trans fill hole. I also had to bungie-cord this so the tube would stay inside the fill hole. Keep the drain pan in place.
Add trans fluid (Dextron III) until it overflows a little.
Start the truck, shifting through the gears.
Add more fluid until it overflows again.
I repeated this several times until it overflowed quite a bit.
Quickly reinsert the fill plug and torque it appropriately.
Remove stands and you are done!
