Transmission trouble
Hello all. I need some help figuring out what happened, I'll try to be breif. I have a 1999 4.6 HSE, 122k miles. Last weekend, I place the shifter lever over in the low range side, drove the vehicle about 100 yards on a level paved parking lot, stopped, placed lever back over on the normal range side. Ever since doing that, the shift from 3rd to 4th gears is awful and when down shifting (as in passing), the engine races, then "dumps" into gear. The shift from 3rd to 4th is as if it momentarily goes into neutral for 1/2 a second, then enguages 4th. When the problem 1st presented it's self, I immediately took it to my shop, drained and refilled the fluid. Made NO difference. The fluid that came out of the trans. appeared very clean (bright red, no odd odor). I drove the car off and on during the week as it seemed to function well except the 3-4 shift thing. WELL, last night, I was demonstrating to a fellow mechanic how all this got started. Now the thing will hardly move. I'm now getting the "transmission fault" text message and fault code p0722 (output speed sensor circut, no signal) is stored. I don't know how putting it in low range could have done something to the tranny, but ??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Transmission trouble
It may not have anything to do with your locking up in low range on the hard surface.
You should go have someone plug in a scanner and drive it, they will be able to read all the values of the tranny as it is being driven and give you a better idea what is going on. I wouln't drive it until you can get it into a shop.
