Default Trouble Shooting non working Brake Lights (both) on 97 Discovery

Fuses ok, bulbs ok, brake switch ok, power at the multiplug on rear light assembly. Center Brake light ok.

I'm stumped. I get power at the second pin (g/p) from the right - brake light connector. however, their doesn't appear to be any power traveling down from the back of the "male" tongue that the multiplug slips onto....and certainly no power around the socket. This is on BOTH rear light assemblies.

turn signals work, running lights work, reverse lights work, hazards work.

thoughts? Thanks everyone!

Thanks Peter!

I checked and checked and double checked all the contacts to the multiplug. I'm definitely getting power there.

TODAY, I took it to my local mechanic who is Rover Certified. He dug into it all AGAIN (I swung by on Friday and he and his partner trouble shot for about 45 minutes). I just picked it up and he's telling me I need the whole new light assembly. Bad circuit.

I'm dumbfounded that this is happening to BOTH light assemblies (both rear brake lights are out). So, it looks like I'll be buying a couple used assemblies shortly.

Thanks for the follow up.

Craig

Ya. Chinese made bulbs cause poor connection in the bulb sockets. This can create a good amount of heat and melt the tail light and/or bulb sockets. Do yourself a favor and buy bulbs made by OSRAM/SYLVANIA.
