I will be replacing my own brake pads on a 06 RR HSE 4.4 w/ 25K miles.

Wanted to look at better than OEM pads and became confused. Read where EBC Green Stuff was good and not so good (requires much more brake pedal force some say)...also, Porterfield R4S was good for street performance, but maybe not good for a heavy SUV, but I saw some on this forum recommend them?? Ferodo's as well. Looking for good stopping power for daily rural/city driving..not much, if any 4x4 or off-road (it's the wife's ride). Lower dust is preferred. The stock rotors are fine and will NOT be replaced, or turnedat this time. Also, since not replacing Rotors now, does anything need to be done to them before replacing pads?? I saw some say to lightly sand the surface to remove any brake pad material before using new pads???

What are your opinions on various high performance brake pads?

Go to Atlantic British and read about what they offer.
Might also look for some high line ceramic pads, low dust, stop well and last well.

 

Thanks Mike...I have looked there and they have EBC Performance or OEM stuff...I am leaning to the EBC's and will probably order those...was just curious if anyone has had experience with EBC, PORTERFIELD or other non-oem brake pads on a heavy rover.
