from the shop manuals (part of the free RAVE download) -

Engine oil – K1.8 engine
Use a 10W/40 oil meeting specification ACEA A2 or
A3.

You can mix oil, for short term use. It would be best to have an oil change and have it all the same. But full of oil (mixed) is better than long trip low on oil. Also, since new to you, check oil several times on this trip to be sure you are not having a leak.

Change it yourself and save some money while learning about your vehicle. Very easy to do, even if you have no experience.

Just don't do what one Freelander guy did, drain the tranny by mistake, overfill the oil, and drive around with way low tranny fluid and way too much oil...

Use the golden colored oil. Not the brown or black colored oil....

Excuse me Sir, but you need to try again on the download, all I have is real PC, not Apple scrap, and ordinary garden variety IE.

If you can't read the post I sent with an exact copy of the info clipped from the owner's manual, the you may not have much luck if you do download the whole manual.

If you don't understand what 10W40 is, you have no business changing oil yourself.

If you can't get your hands dirty, you don't need to own a Land Rover, or be under one.

If you proceed to the dealership they are waiting for you.

If you want to do the work yourself, look at these attached pages from the shop manual. You'll need tools of course, some ramps to pull the front wheels up on, and you must remove an under body panel to get at the drain. Plan on having 4 quarts of quality oil on hand to refill.

Or go the dealer route - see photo.

Not everyone wants to download links from a stranger, myself included.
Apple is way better than PC any day of the week.
Not everyone wants to work on their own car, nor cares to and that is fine.

He asked a simple question, thus a simple answer is all that is needed, depending on his climate 10w-40 or 5w-40 are both good all around motor oils.

Yes you can mix oils, they are all compatible, yes it is best to pick one oil and stick with it, however, if you need to add oil then just buy oil and add.
