Default Windshield Wiper Blades

Just installed a new set of wipers on my Disco II and am having the same problems as I did with the old set - the lower half of the blade doesn't even touch the window.

I check the springs on both sides and they are intact and appear to be tight.

Any suggestions on how to get more pressure to the windshield?

D1 arms now, but I retightened springs prior with small hog rings in place of the original spring connectors that are holding spring. Worked better.
d1 arms are better the better option, but the smaller rings helped, prior to the exchange.

"small hog rings" Interesting.

To do this, did you clamp the hog rings around part of the spring itself - in effect shortening the ring?

correct. the hog rings took the place of the original little 1/2 loop connectors. It worked fine and effectively, until I happened upon some d1 arms (thanks street wolf)

Dusty, I lube my wiper arms with some WD40 regularly so they don't seize up. Also take the wiper blades off the truck and lube them where they articulate. I always wrap the wiper rubber blades in paper towel to ensure they don't get lubricated at the same time. Don't get it on your windshield, it's a real PITA particularly at night with oncoming lights glaring.

oh yeah, that must fall into that new fangled preventative maintenance concept.....I've heard of that..
mine came from it's first home with the damage already done. but I can lube up, what I have, now. what do you use, that stays on, in the elements? silicone? lithium?
edit= just saw it... wd40.....as a young and dumbster, I lubed up a buddy's wiper blades with Vaseline. he was at my place it was due to rain and he lived close. what's the worst that could happen.....I owed him for lubing up my door handle, anyway.. It started raining as he left..............................he ran over my mailbox. lesson learned
