2000 disc 2 87k miles

just bought the car for 900, the car will roll over pretty decently and can idle rough if i restrict air flow into the pipe thats connected to the iac valve. there is also air kicked back into the filter box making a knocking sound. the fuel pump was replaced recently and all 8 cylinders were good after my compressions test.
i figure theres an issue with the iac but i was told that it would run if i covered over the connection to the iac and the intake. when i did the engine ran worse, after cleaning the iac there was no change.


i also found alot of oil in the air intake reservoir and i read that it could be caused by the oil separator.


my plan is to take off the intake manifold and valve covers to replace all gaskits and the oil separator. also clean the throttle body to make sure theres no leaks in the covers and rule out the throttle body.

should i do anything else while im in there? and is there anything else that might be causing this like the master air flow sensor or do you think that this will do the trick?

 

fixed it, replaced some loose cracked hoses i found, the intake cover and maf. its purring now!
