Default [Another] Starting Issue - 2009 LR2

Hello fellow Rovers! Bought a 2009 LR2 for the wife, she loves it, but the damn thing doesn't want to start on the first try. Usually takes two push to start attempts, and she fires up, although there have been times when she will sputter and run rough for the first 10 seconds or so. The windshield wipers also have a mind of their own when this happens.

I'm about to take her to the Land Rover dealer tomorrow, so before I get hosed, can you please lend me your expertise so I can show them I know a little something or two? I've done some searches, but the results are all over the place. I've heard just about everything including the following:

  1. Crash status
  2. Fuel pump
  3. Low battery
  4. Poor fuel
  5. Car doesn't recognize key
  6. Computer re-flash needed
  7. Warm restart software needed (although the starting issue presents itself during cold starts).
  8. Navigation issues (how this would affect starting is beyond me)
Any help you can provide is MUCH appreciated! Also, any TSBs on this issue??

try this first

here in Europe we experience that problem, and sometimes worse (HDC goes on, funny warning messages, radio does not function properly).
We solved this and other problems by fitting an earth strap directly to the starter motor from the battery.
try this - with a jumper lead from the - battery terminal to the engine, and see if it solves your problems.
if so.. fit an extra earth cable !
worth a try.. i did not believe it until i tried and it solved my problem !
