Default 2008 LR2 Alternator Replacement Help

So our LR2 has left us stranded once again!! Our local mechanics do not work on Land Rovers. They are saying there are special tools needed to swap the alternator, but I did find one video that atleast shows the alternator being put on and the compartment put back together, but it's playing music, no description of tools needed unfortunately. It looked straight forward, just bolts and electrical connections. Has anyone performed this, do you need special tools?

Thanks for the help!

Mostly basic hand tools

The hard part is removing the intake manifold

This thread shows how to remove the intake manifold

https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic32245.html

With the manifold removed the Alternator is held in with 4 bolts and a couple electrical connections

If you want to replace the overdrive pulley you will need the special tool.

If the replacement Alternator comes with the pulley installed then you don't need the tool

Good luck

Take a look at this thread as well.

The bolt for the drive pulley can come loose.

Let us know what you find out

Thanks
