Default 2008 LR2 doors locking automatically

My 08 LR2 doors are locking automatically, guessing it’s the “walk away” feature. The key fob buttons no longer work and the key doesn’t unlock the driver’s door. How do I do away with this feature? The doors locked automatically while the fob was still in ignition and vehicle was running. Scared to drive it now lol. Looked under the settings tab on display and there are no options to disable it. Please help!

It would likely be a CCF file you would have to change to disable the auto locking. GAP tool, and a few others have the capability

where in Georgia?

I’m in Commerce Ga. Approximately 25 minutes north of Athens and about 1-1.5 hours from Atlanta depending on where you’re going.

The battery has given up the ghost on the fob. Get a new fob and have it programmed, or do it yourself with an Autel diagnostic device. As to this:

"The doors locked automatically while the fob was still in ignition and vehicle was running."

That is the way the car is supposed to work.

I learned the hard way years ago that many or all modern cars will lock you out if you leave the door shut with engine running. Just don't do it.

If you want to keep it running because you're leaving a pet inside, carry the spare key.

If you want to leave it running because you're leaving a small child inside... just don't.

I’m pretty sure the doors are not to lock unless the vehicle is in gear. The vehicle is in park and the doors are locking with the key on in and out of the vehicle be it running or not. The ignition charges the fob and I get that it can go bad, the other fob doesn’t work. The “key” also does not unlock the door. I love this vehicle and fortunately it’s not my primary car but I don’t know how much more I can put into it. The dash is cracked which seems to be a common issue, the sunroof screens are now messed up, the headliner is sagging, and both front windows will not roll down. It’s enough to drive someone insane.

Hang in there, brother. We know your pain.

An easy thing to try is a battery reset. It's described in other posts on this forum. Sometimes it clears up glitches.

just disconnect both terminals for a few minutes and reconnect them? Also says the bonnet is open when it’s not. I haven’t checked the doors in a couple of days to see if they’ve locked again. So I’ll guess I’ll start with the battery reset and see what happens. There may or may not be an accidental fire if it doesn’t work lol

Jason, you are talking about a SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD TRUCK. As in dog years, you multiply by seven. What exactly are you expecting, to drive it forever and not have to do anything to take care of it? Get some new FOBs and program them and move on to the rest of the issues.
