I just filmed what it happens with the car. Here's the link on youtube: https://youtu.be/HM0h_Srlh2w
You can see at exactly 4k rpm, the 'rev limiter' acting.

I´ll try to replace the fuel pressure sensor. My friend that has the Volvo is out of town, but he'll be back on sunday. While I can't hav an a appointment with the LR 'specialist', I'll try your sugestions.

Thank you guys!
Very interesting, it's like a rev governor. Have you tried it in Sports mode? Manual shift in Sports mode??

Yes, I've tried.

It's interesting because at one time, cruising downhill on a highway, I selected the manual shift mode and even with the minimum amount of throttle possible, the car didn't rev over 4.000. In any gear (possible)...When it hit 4.000, it stayed there...whatever the pressure on the gas pedal was being applied.

I don't think my 08 LR2 has ever exceeded 4K RPM. It's odd that the RPM gauge on the dashboard goes all the way up to 8K RPM. Is that why you think it should go beyond 4K RPM, because that's half the range of the gauge?

My LR2 shifts at 6300(?) rpm any time I punch the throttle, pretty well every gear relative to the max speed. Even in Sports mode manual shift, it will change gears at 6300 rpm if I don't shift the gear manually and try to exceed 6300rpm. That's normal. If his LR2 is unable to get to 6300 rpm when punching the throttle there is an issue or it's been reprogrammed that way or there is a different malfunction.

The 3.2L gasoline engine is spec'd at 6200 rpm for max hp and 3200 rpm for max torque. There's no rev limiter at 4000 rpm. The TD2 diesel engine's numbers for hp and torque max out at 4,000 rpm.

There is a procedure to recalibrate the throttle pedal response. Turn vehicle on, (hold start for 2-3 seconds) without pressing the brake. Mash pedal to the floor for 30 seconds, release pedal and leave ignition on for 30 secs then turn off ignition. For the next 150 kms drive like a formula 1 pro . The gas pedal, so to speak, basically learns your driving style.
