Default 2011 LR2 - Dash lights out but AC & Radio work when engine is off

My friend was driving to work in her 2011 Land Rover LR2. While driving all of her dash lights went off. She parked, turned off the vehicle and took her key out. The radio and AC kept running. She drove it to her local mechanic who could not diagnose the problem since that's not his specialty.

Does anyone know what may have caused this problem or heard of this?

She is trying to find a mechanic in Baton Rouge that can find out what is wrong.

When my LR2 was having electrical issues I did the following.

I replaced the three relays shown in the picture (highlighted with a red square)

Top left relay is R1 - starter motor relay

Next to R1 is R2 - this relay provides the power for several circuits in the passenger compartment fuse box

On the right is R7 - this relay provides power for several fuses in the passenger compartment.

I also replaced the battery

Any of these could be your problem.

There are also electrical connections under the carpet in the front passenger foot well that can come loose (I need to check what problem these cause, I haven't had this problem but I read about it)

Good Luck

I forgot to add.

The problem that you have can easily be created by a depleted battery.

have you confirmed that the Alternator is charging the battery?

If it isn't there is a common problem with the drive pulley and I can point you in that direction.

Good Luck

sounds to me like it is possible the battery is about done. these things can do some weird stuff on a low battery. i would try and have the battery tested first
