Default 2011 LR2 Radiator Fan Fuse

2011 LR2 133k miles
Have a single fan design not turning on. How do you remove the cover over F3, the fan 80a fuse? Want to try fuse before fan replacement. I think this plastic covers F3, F4, and F5.... Strap fuse?

Thanks

What cover? There is no cover over the fuse, the entire fuse comes out as one piece. ??

The red arrow points to the locking tab (the relay has been removed, but this is a capture from a youtube video). You will need to gently push the tab out (to the right in this image) to unlock the cover.

Here are some pictures that may help.

Note: I am not certain which fuse is for the electric fan and you may have to remove more covers.

If you figure out which fuse is the right one then take some pictures and post it here for other to see.

Note: did you check for voltage at the fan module? If you have battery voltage and the fan is not coming on then the controller may be broken or the fan motor may have failed or both.

The fan will spin if you apply 12 volts and a good ground directly to it inputs. (just disconnect it from the controller)

To uncover the fuses F17 - F21.

To get to them you have to release the two locks and then lift the panel.

Here are the two locks that need to be released

Remember to disconnect the battery first then push the lock toward the center of the fuse box using a small flat blade screwdriver

And here is a picture of the fuses behind the cover

Note: F16 is not installed only F17 to F21

The fuse for the fan is F3. It's under the little cover he was asking about.

If it's the control module, I'd highly recommend trying to find an OEM module. Apparently aftermarket modules suck and will fail soon.

I'm not sure if that's even available from JLR, the module may only be available from them as part of the whole fan assembly.

If you use an aftermarket module, maybe buy a spare to take on any road trips.

I've had both failures at various times, fan and module, so it might be wise just to do the whole thing.

Thanks. Got the adjacent cover and cover needed off F3... a strap fuse that has perfect continuity. So fuse good.
Taking off the manifold to replace the fan motor and regulator is more than I have time for, so indy shop it goes unless some has another idea.

Thanks to each for your input.

Loading another post.... What is it? Maybe from LR3?

If you are going in (or are having someone do it for you) then get the parts that should be replaced if the manifold is removed

LR006071 - Thermostat

LR001491 - Screw for Thermostat (Qty 4)

LR001442 - Coolant Hose for heat exchanger

LR000491 - Bolt for Heat exchanger hose

LR001505 - O-Ring for heat exchanger hose

LR019341 - engine to expansion tank coolant hose (this will likely leak after removal)

LR001454 - intake manifold gasket Qty 6 needed I bought aftermarket parts from Victor Reinz and the quality appears excellent and the cost was very low

And share the link about how to remove the manifold with who ever is doing the work

Especially this quote from a random person in the UK that owned a LR2 3.2

Bloody hell, i think I’ll just wait for it all to blow up.....
Good luck

Paul

PS I installed a Volvo Twin Fan setup in my LR2 3.2 after the single fan failed and to save on cost I installed a Radiator Fan (Siemens / VDO) twin fan in my Volvo S80 3.2. Note: my Volvo Fan didn't fail it just made too much noise for me to tolerate and I still have the old worn out fan if the new fan fails. I did have to shim the VDO fan very slightly to prevent the Fan blade from rubbing on the shroud (the interference was very minor and it would have eventually stopped making a rubbing noise) but I have no tolerance for that so I fixed it prior to installing it.
