I have a weird problem with my (otherwise perfect) 2012 LR2:

After sitting outside on a hot day, when the vehicle is turned on, it won't blow A/C out the center console. You can press the button that's supposed to select the center console, the light next to that button illuminates, but no air comes out. After awhile, it blows up the defrost vents, then onto the floor, then up to the defrost again, then eventually, the center console vents start blowing. But it's wild - it oscillates between the defrost and floor and seems to be unable to figure out what to do, until the center console vents finally open.

While that's the main symptom I'm concerned about, it also behaves oddly in other ways (that are not very repeatable or consistent). For instance, sometimes it will be blowing ice cold air out the driver's side vents and VERY hot air out the passenger side vents, despite both controls set to the same temp.

Another thing it does is: after about an hour of driving with the heat running, it stops heating, and starts blowing very cold air.

Any ideas where I would even begin to troubleshoot this?

 

My FL2 (also a 2012, bought it in 2016) had similar issues. Sometimes it was blowing cold air from the drivers side and very hot air from the passenger side, it also would stop heating after about an hour. After a few visits to the dealer they found a broken stepper motor which controls one of the flaps in the heating system. They replaced it 2 weeks ago (under warranty) and up to now the issues are gone.
