2013 LR2 Turbo Supercharger Issue - No more power
I am working on this project right now on my own.
Bought my 2013 Land Rover LR2 with the 2.0L 4 Cyl only 2 months ago from a small dealer, he only gave me a 1,000 mile or 3 month warranty (worst warranty ever). 2,000 miles later, it has 75,500 miles and it seems the turbo went out on it. Getting code P0299 - TurboCharger Underboost. I have determined the turbo needs replaced, hope I'm right!.
When it happened, I was accelerating on an on ramp and I heard a noise like pressure releasing or air spraying on plastic. then I lost most of my acceleration power. I could still accelerate but it was very slowly. Like a regular car with minimal power. There was no sign of any lost fluids or leaks.
Prior to this, I had been experiencing some random shifting issues when I was letting the car slow down on it's own. It would kind of shift down hard on it's own and raise the RPMs when it did down shift, it didn't seem right. I'm wondering if this could be connected to a turbo?
It seems every video online shows the body being taken off, but I am not doing that, and I don't think it's necessary.
So far
I removed the engine cover
I removed the air box and tube all the way down to the turbo.
I removed the passenger wheel.
I removed the passenger wheel well.
I removed the front skid plate (for extra access).
I removed the bent rubber air circulation tube coming off of the bottom of the Turbo.
I removed the bolts on the exhaust manifold heat shield, but can't get it out yet.
Next step is to drain the coolant so I can remove the coolant line going into the turbo.
Then I should be able to remove the heat shield and get to the Exhaust Manifold.
Other things to remove: oil line, electrical connection, exhaust connection...
Anything else?
Anyone know the best way to drain the Coolant on the LR2 with the 2.0L?
Any help with this job is welcome. Thanks.
