Default Air filter?

I went to replace my 2008 LR2 air filter. Not sure if it is aftermarket or not, but the filter has stamped on it "14MLA05LA" and "0012-4691".

I bought a FRAM CA10432, which says it fits the 2008 LR2. The problem is it is about 1/4" too wide and 1/4" too long! I have to push it in, deforming the filter, and the sides are so high the top filter won't fit on.

What's everyone using that actually fits?

Pretty sure this is what I put in last time. It also references the LR part number, which you should be able to google to find other brands: LR005816

https://www.roverparts.com/filters/a...ters/LR005816/

IIRC, the deeper side of the filter goes downward into the housing so the top cover fits on.

Also I assume you have the I6 gasoline engine. The filter for the diesel version might be different.

Only the paper portion fits fully inside the filter housing. The lid should fit over the top of the filter. What do you mean by "top filter"?

I had a similar problem with an aftermarket air filter. The WIX 42827 is supposed to fit the 08 LR2 but the filter frame is too big for the housing. So I went back to the MANN C28155 which is the OE equivalent for LR005816, and fits like a glove.

I've had better luck with the fitment of aftermarket filters for the cabin air filter. But I haven't found an aftermarket replacement with a proper fit for the engine air filter.

Top filter...I meant to say top air filter housing.

Same issue this week with both a Wix filter I had acquired at some point in the past several years, and then the Fram I bought to replace it.

I guess it's the new world we live in... good enough as long as you can bend it and jam it in there, doesn't matter if the cover seals on top, only a little dirt will get past it. WTF.

I'll try a Mann.
