Can you change the screensaver on a 2008 LR2, instead of seeing the boring rover emblem on the screen?

You might as well cover it with something. It's useless, the last time the navi system was updated was in 2012.

Ok thanks, I'll cut a picture of the beach the same size as the screen and stick it on... My sister just bought a new Bronco and it has two screens (the gauge screen and the radio screen) with beautiful forest pictures on it. I wouldn't think it would have been that hard for Rover to have a feature like that, home computers have had that for 25 years...

Maybe one of those battery powered digital photo frames. Load it up with your favorite pics. Should be able to get one the size of the screen.

in my 2013, I have the 2020 update. I guess the systems are different.
In the 07 jag, its actually an alpine unit…. the good news is that I was able to get a 2017 update… back in 2017. I noticed at navigation.com that it is no longer available. For the roads I travel, that map is fine.

HERE is not exactly the best company when it comes to navigation products. Their updates for major changes can take years to roll out, and they don't exactly treat people very well. I once interviewed for them, they had me at the Berlin office for some 6 hours doing multiple interviews and didn't even have the common sense to provide lunch or even appropriate snacks (they knew I am diabetic). IMO the EU should force companies that refuse to update maps to open source their product once they stop supporting it so other people can find ways to use open source map data to update databases. But the EU only cares about going after US companies like Microsoft and Google, not companies in their own territories. Garmin made a really stupid mistake when they farmed out their maps to HERE.

I don’t disagree with you. And not providing a meal is not standard practice in the EU, I’m surprised.
For my explorations (driving, cycling, sailing, skiing) I do use garmin products…. the old maps were better.

But, when is “support or aged devices” supposed to eol? Im a software guy. And when a customer presents a problem with their 7 year old situation on 10 year old hardware, I cringe.
I do find it interesting that “latest” version of the software, no matter what the date of manufacture was not provided with the disclaimer, no longer supported.

Always a pleasure!

The thing is that the navi software does not usually need to be updated, these are usually just database upgrades, and if the pipeline has already been set up to produce the distribution, there is little work required to keep customers up to date. To me what Jaguar/LR has done is let the lawyers sunset support, just because they can. They are essentially saying "Our cars are disposable after 4-7 years. Buy another one." Ha. No not, not hell no...
