Custom 2008 LR2 Exterior!

@LR2driver. When I dipped the letters I covered part of the car around the letters with newspaper and just sprayed on the car and letters at the same time. After a few coats, I removed the plastic off the car and left it on the letters to get that effect. I did not take them off. However, that is an option! Please check out this video in which the letters are removed and replaced with new ones. It is on a Land Rover Evoque but the process should be similar on any land rover. Hope this helped, let me know if you are interested or want any more info.

I like the front grill, what type of paint did you use and what type of prep did you do? I do appreciate the fact that there are LR owners out there daring to be original. Its good, this type of thing will make the aftermarket suppliers wake up and possibly realize that they should put some more mod products out for these trucks!

@mikeryan Thanks for the interest! I definitely agree that many aftermarket manufacturers are ignoring the other Land Rover models and putting more focus on the Range Rovers. For example, I couldn't find any body kits for the LR2 while the Range Rovers had numerous external and internal aftermarket upgrades Anyhow, back to the grill. What I did with the grill was spray it with Plasti Dip Rubber Coating. Link here [ http://www.summitracing.com/parts/pl...Fe1aMgodFVsA0A ]. The spray creates a rubber coating instead of your standard paint coat. The biggest advantage to this is that it is temporary and can be removed if one decides to sell, ect. To prep I first cleaned the grill thoroughly. Afterwards, I stuck some plastic bags through the grill in front of the radiator so that the spray would not reach it. Ideally you'd like to take the whole bumper off and work on it as such but I didn't have the knowledge or time to do so. Instead I just stuck some plastic bags as protection for the radiator and everything behind the grill from the spray. Afterwards I covered some of the area around the grill with newspaper so that the spray wouldn't spread to the hood, from bumper, ect. After spraying about 4-5 layers and letting the coats dry, I peeled off the plastic that got onto the car. Here is how I learned and I suggest you watch this video before doing any custom work with plasti dip on your grill. Link here [
]. Cheers!
