Engine stalls, usually after start up
2011 LR2, 136,000 miles. The engine will typically start right up, and as the RPM drop from 1200 down to 800 or so (normal idle)It will stall. I sometimes have to try 4-5 times before I can catch it and keep the RPM up to 1000. If I keep it there, it will continue to run. It does not throw any codes. Vehicle runs fine on the road. I recently drove 1500 miles to Georgia and back, though I had a few issues upon start up. I just had the 'fuel rail pressure sensor' replaced. I've thought about fuel pump or filter, except it runs fine once underway, and I'm getting normal mileage.
I had a 2008 with the same (Ford) 6 cylinder petrol engine that developed near similar problem. It actually would shut off while driving, but would fire up within a second or less. It also then began to stall on start up. I dumped the vehicle.
Any thoughts? I know this engine is also in the Volvo XC60 and possibly XC90.The dealer that I took it to also sells Volvo, but they had only guessed at the solution.

You can at least check all the wiring harnesses and connectors that you can see. Partially remove them to reseat the connection might help.
The plastic connectors get brittle with age, and lock tabs often break... if you find a connector with a lot tab, reseat it and use a zip-tie to hold it in place.
I've also had rodent damage on my LR2's harness... strange since it's a daily driver.

Sorry for the delay in response. As mentioned, I was not getting any codes. The dealer did not get any codes. It did stall on them once, when they moved it into the garage. Vehicle stalled once the day after I got it back. I checked the best I could for rodent damage, but couldn't find any signs. I drove home yesterday and left it running while I moved garbage cans, get mail, and thought it would stall, but it idled fine.
On my 2008, I had changed the cam position sensor, to no avail. I bought a crank position sensor, but one shop and a LR mechanic didn't think is was worth changing it, without a code.
