Default engine trouble?

I recently purchased a 2008 LR2 HSE with 14,500 miles. It now has 17k miles on it. Today when I started it, it was idling bad - the RPMs would go up and down, and it died. It started right back up, but was idling rough again like it was trying to die, and the engine light came on.
Has anyone experienced this or have an idea what the problem could be?

Is it under warranty, do you have a check engine light on?

Yes, it is still under the original "limited" warranty. And the engine light is on. My plan was to try calling roadside assistance and see if they will tow it to the dealer. Hoping I can get somewhere with it today since it is Sunday (and Super Bowl Sunday at that--and I live in the DFW area).

Also, when I took it in for an oil change last week, they were telling me that I need new rear brakes. It only has 17k miles!!

@ 28,000 the Dealer told my wife the rear brakes needed replacement. They said the fronts were fine. I said no way. I checked the brakes & replaced the rears within a 500 miles & did the fronts @ 40,000 miles.
